So this week we've got even more news on the upcoming Apple iPhone 13 we've got big changes to the design and some great improvements to the hardware.
Apple iPhone 13
The first story of the day is related to software and as you know with the Apple iPhone 13 will come a new software update and that is going to be iOS 15.
Apple is great at supporting their older devices but as we see each year some do unfortunately have to be dropped from the latest iOS support.
The Verifier published a report that says next year with the iPhone 13 and iOS 15 we're unfortunately going to be losing support for the 6s the 6s plus and the first-gen SE.
While many may be disappointed with this it's unfortunate because they need all devices to run well to keep up with the standard and I guess that the A9 chip just isn't up to it.
But hopefully, this means we will get some huge improvements in the software.
Cheaper iPhone 13
We've got more news of a cheaper iPhone 13 and unfortunately, we hear this a lot but it's yet to actually happen.
Samsung and LG make most of the iPhone displays and as we covered last week but unfortunately did not pass the quality test for the iPhone 13.
Now apparently they're not out yet and they're continuing their attempt to work with Apple to produce 120-hertz displays for the iPhone 13.
Now we're still very early on in the iPhone 13 development it's reported that BOE is able to apply for another quality test from Apple and if they're able to pass then they could still manufacture for the iPhone 13.
This would of course massively reduce the cost of materials for Apple and it's very beneficial to both companies and I know this is pretty vague information at the moment but as soon as we get an update I'll be letting you guys know.
iPhone 13 Design
We've got news of a huge design change to the Apple iPhone 13 and it could be their first phone to go portless.
This information came from john Prosser who states that we will have a portless iPhone 13 but it won't be all of them some of them will stick with the standard ports.
While others will be completely portless I think it's safe to assume here that the budget-friendly iPhones will continue to use the lightning cable and the iPhone 13 Pro Max and maybe even the iPhone 13 Pro is going to be the portless candidates.
While we hear this portless news every year, the introduction of Apple's MagSafe is leading people to think that the iPhone 13 could finally be where it debuts and it does seem likely the main issue I can see though is sometimes we do get software issues.
We have to reset the phone or restore it via a USB cable so if the phone is completely portless then in a worst-case scenario what would have been a simple fix at home you'd now have to take your iPhone 13 to the Apple store.
Another thing they'll have to do is also increase those charge speeds to keep up with the market is currently 15 what is the max and it appears that many would like.
Faster charging portless isn't the only change though as there are also many reports saying that the iPhone 13 could see the return of touch id and given the in-display sensors are so reliable.
It seems a sensible move especially in the current times that people are having trouble with face id and their mask so introducing touch id is a great move.
Now there are already so many concept designs of the iPhone 13 appearing online but the truth is at this stage the design hasn't been finalized nor are they based on any leaked data.
So it's important to remember that these are just people's educated guesses.
